CASUALTIES were treated for burns and smoke inhalation after a flat fire in Crewe.
Two fire engines from Crewe and one from Nantwich were called to the blaze in Fanshawe Walk at 3.48am on Friday, October 17.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A fire in a ground floor flat was well alight on arrival.
“Two people, a man and a woman were inside the flat and had been woken by smoke alarms and managed to get out of the property.
“The woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns to her hand.
“Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus checked the flat opposite and an elderly lady from inside was also taken to hospital to be checked over.
“A third woman was helped down a ladder from the flat above but did not require any treatment.
"The cause of the fire was accidental. A large fan was used to clear the smoke.”
Crews using a hose reel and wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.
