A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into a fight at Sir William Stanier School in Crewe, police have confirmed.

The girl was arrested on Saturday, February 6, on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police said the alleged incident is part of an ongoing investigation in relation into an ‘isolated incident’ at Sir William Stanier High School, on Wednesday, February 3.

Inspector Alan Fairclough said: “I would like to thank local residents for the ongoing support that they have provided throughout this investigation.

“Were here for Justice and we treat all allegations extremely seriously and all crimes that are reported to us will be investigated.

“We will also ensure that all victims and witnesses are provided with the support that they require.

“I urge anyone who believes that thy have been a victim of crime to report it Cheshire Police on 101.”

Prior to the arrest, Crewe Police officers said they were looking to ‘reassure local residents following rumours circulating on social media’.

Chief Inspector Gareth Lee said: “I’m proud of the cohesive community in Crewe and I am committed to doing everything I can to make the town even safer.

“Over the past 48 hours we are aware that a number of rumours which have been circulating online about incidents that are alleged to have taken place.

“To help reassure local residents there will be additional officers on patrol throughout the weekend and we will take robust action against any offenders.”

Inspector Kate Woods urged residents to report any crimes to the police.

She said: “We’re here for justice, but we can only investigate incidents that have been reported to us.

“That is why I encourage anyone who believes that they have been a victim of crime to contact us on 101.

“We treat all allegations extremely seriously and all crimes that are reported to us will be investigated.

“We will also ensure that all victims and witnesses are provided with the support that they require.”

Chief Inspector Lee added: “I would also like to appeal to parents in the local area to ask them to ensure that they know where their children are and what they are doing, to help ensure they don’t end up on the wrong side of the law.”
