A PHOTOGRAPHY student from Crewe was snapped up for a TV advertising campaign after her ‘selfie’ photograph caught the eye of producers.

Tiana Walton, who studies at South Cheshire College, landed a key role in an advert promoting perfect black leggings, which are part of the Venus Cow brand.

Tiana, 17, was snapped up for the TV shoot after she posted a posed photo of herself on Instagram which she took using a camera set to timer.

Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video sharing and social networking service that enables users to take photos and videos and share them through other social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

Tiana, from Frodsham, said: “It came out of the blue really. I posted a ‘selfie’ photo of myself on Instagram and I received a call asking if I’d be interested in being in the advert.

“Of course I jumped at the chance to take part because I love fashion and I would like to get more involved in photography fashion shoots in the future.

“I also wear the Venus Cow Perfect Black Leggings myself so it’s an item of clothing that I was pleased to help promote.”

The advert has been screened on the British lifestyle channel, ITVBe, and it could hit the screens across the Atlantic in America next year.

In the meantime, Tiana will continue honing her photography skills after starting the BTEC Level 3 photography course at the Crewe college in September.

Gary Sandilands, photography lecturer at South Cheshire College, said: “Tiana has done really well to gain this kind of recognition and to appear on a TV advert as a result of her photography work is a great achievement.

“She enjoys fashion photography so this advertising campaign was right up her street.”
