POLICE are seeking witnesses to a serious assault in Crewe, which resulted with one man needing hospital treatment.
The incident is believed to have occurred at around 10.30pm on Saturday, May 7.
The victim, a 36-year-old man, and his friend were both walking along Frank Webb Avenue in the direction of Leighton Brook.
As the pair approached the junction with Badger Avenue the pair crossed the road to use the telephone kiosk and were approached by a man who hit the victim in the lower back.
The man suffered injuries to his lower back, which required hospital treatment.
Detective Constable Darren Varley, investigating officer, said: “I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident and believes that they may have information that could assist our investigation.
“This is a serious incident and I want to ensure that the person responsible is brought to justice.”
A 31-year-old local man has been arrested in relation to the incident but has been released on police bail until a later date.
