SUPERMARKET Morrisons is launching a huge 42oz steak hungry carnivores can tuck into for £15.

The Tomahawk steak, weighing 1.2kg, is the biggest steak available from a British supermarket and will only be available between Thursday and Father’s Day.

The mighty meaty feast, aged for 14 days and sold with the rib bone intact for enhanced flavour, weighs more than six times the average cut.

It is called the Tomahawk because it resembles the large native American axe.

Morrisons butchery expert Darren Spauls said: “The Tomahawk will offer dads this Father’s Day the ultimate carnivore experience. However, if you can’t defeat the beast alone, the steak will serve two to three people.”

He recommends cooking the steak by frying and sealing it first, for around three minutes each side, before browning in the oven for a further 25 minutes for a medium steak.

The slab of steak measures 14 inches long and eight inches wide on average, and a similar lump of meat would set you back £77 at a London restaurant.

It's available at Market Street butchers counters in Morrisons stores including the Stockton Heath shop on Greenalls Avenue in Warrington, the Widnes store on Green Oaks Way, the Leigh store on Sale Way, the St Helens store on Boundary Road, the New Brighton store, the Winsford store on Nat Lane, the Middlewich store on Newton Bank and the Crewe store on Dunwoody Way.
