A CREWE housekeeper has been recognised as one of the best in the country.

Nan McDowall, executive head housekeeper at Crewe Hall, was crowned AA Housekeeper of the Year 2016 on Monday, September 26, at the AA Hospitality Awards sponsored by Aslotel.

The event at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, was hosted by Outnumbered star Hugh Dennis, and guests were treated to a gastronomic menu by Daniel Clifford, last year’s AA Chefs’ Chef.

Nan was commended for striving to improve the hall’s service to guests and working with other departments to ensure an excellent customer service is provided.

She also creates a sense of responsibility and pride among her team by portraying that their roles are not just a job, but a career and an important part of the hotel which impacts all guests.

“It is a huge honour to be recognised by the AA for this award. It feels unbelievable,” Nan said.

“Without my team of room attendants and supervisors I would not have won this award, it’s an award that reflects the efforts of the whole team.”

Winners were selected by a panel of industry experts in recognition of excellence and success within their chosen category.

They were chosen for showing a significant improvement in the preceding 12 to 18 months, and proving their dedication to raising industry standards and enhancing the experiences of guests and diners.

All of the award winners will appear in the latest edition of the 2017 AA Hotel, Restaurant and Pub Guides, which were launched at the event.
