REIGNING Crewe Liberal Club Open League Premier Division darts champions West End LMR B asserted their superiority with a 6-2 defeat of main rivals Pioneers Club A.

It is many seasons since the Pi’s failed to win in two successive matches.

LMR B’s hotshots were Patrick Lynskey with 14 and 15 dart legs, a 116 checkout and a 180, backed up by Dave Bickerton with a 17 darter and a 180 and Danny Ayres with 18 and 19 dart legs and a brace of 180s.

Pi’s skipper Pete Boughey hit a 17 dart leg and a 127 finish in a last game pairs win, with 180s from teammates Andy Poynton and Tony Richardson.

Cosey Clubs bye week dropped them three points further back, with fourth placed Delamere now out of the reckoning after letting slip a 3-1 lead in a 5-3 defeat by visitors Kings Arms A.

Andy Pitt (Kings A) and Mick Hassall (Vine A) bombed 17 dart legs, Cliff Davison (ASLEF) a 111 finish to an 18 darter and Ken Cliffe (Vine A) who included a 171 high score in his 18 darter. Clive Lucking (Delamere) and Kath Cooper (Commercial) hit 180s.

Division One leaders Oddfellows Club beat Broughton Arms 6-2 to increase their lead to six points over Brunel A, who scrambled a 5-3 win over lowly Flying Lady A.

Amalgamated A’s recent improved form consolidated their third place, culminated with a 6-2 defeat of White Lion A.

Fourth placed Hop Pole A are five points further back after their latest 5-3 win that saw them wipe out Pioneer B’s 3-1 advantage. Jordan Bradley (Brunel A) hit a 19 darter and then secured a 5-3 win with a 31 dart pairs win with Steve Austin.

Paul Morrey (Pole A) fired a 180 and Adele Probin and Dave Coyne sealed the Oddies 6-2 win with a 32 dart pairs win.

Division Two contained four drawn clashes, including the one that saw leaders Imp forfeit their unblemished record to Sydney Arms, who drop a place to third.

Bridge A move up to second after providing the sections only winning score, 5-3 at the Hawk, in which Dave Arrowsmith bombed a 19 dart leg.

Tommy Clarke (Bridge C) fired a treble 20/bull two dart checkout.

The clash of Division Three's top two saw Willaston Club move 11 points clear after a 5-3 victory over Swan & Chequers, now only four points ahead of Nantwich Road A, 6-2 victors over Liberal Club, and with a match in hand.

Willaston Club duo Paul Goodwin and Kevin Reade fired 19 dart legs, Paul Owen (Cheshire Cheese) a 20 darter and 180’s were hit by Les Clarke (Nantwich Road B), Jamie Clorley (Willaston), Patrick Brennan (Swan & Chequers) and Vine Landlady Julie Bailey.

Division Four runaway leaders Prince of Wales A added seven more points to their already impressive total, on the receiving end this week were White Lion, with Dave Betteley staving off the whitewash.

Three points still separate second and third placed Duke of Bridgewater C and Rising Sun B after their draw, although the Sun may regret letting slip their 4-1 early lead that saw Steve Gillighan (Duke C) bomb a 130 checkout on the bull in a pairs win. Ben Davies (Prince A) hit a 180

Division Five has new leaders in Prince of Wales D after a 6-2 win at Foresters Arms B, with Hop Pole B’s bye week demoting them to second, three points off the pace.
