NANTWICH Town moved clear of the relegation zone with two wins over Easter weekend.

Dabbers beat Curzon Ashton, unbeaten in nine games before Saturday's defeat, thanks to a Nicholas Platt goal before seeing off Witton Albion 3-0 on Monday.

Platt bagged again and a Mat Bailey goal put the hosts 2-0 up in 19 minutes at Weaver Stadium, before Harry Clayton added a third in the second half.

“I am absolutely made up with the first 30 minutes," said boss Phil Parkinson. "It was a little bit like when we played Curzon.

“The football we played was really high quality, especially the midfield three.

“Some of their passing and bravery that they showed in that first half was frightening and that is what was the difference for us.

“We tried to play the right way. It's paying dividends now. Obviously there is the other side to that which we had to show at Curzon and we did it a little bit here. But they have had a lad sent off at the end.

“So it took the sting out of the game and it went a bit flat the last 10 minutes. But we had to dig deep. They are not going to roll over they are down there with us and every team that is in and around us we have beat which is imperative for us.”

Monday was the first time this season the Dabbers had put in back-to-back clean sheets and Parkinson was quick to praise the defensive backline of the team.

He said: “It's since Mat Bailey has come back, there is no coincidence is there?

“He is absolutely bang in form at moment. Ben Harrison is as well. Jon Moran, Andy White and Mark Jones. We have been really tight at the back."
