THE Crewe Oddies Club Open League will again stage its now mandatory grandstand finish to the season, as the only trophy places decided are five at Darts and four in the top aggregates, leaving at least 23 dependent on the final weeks matches.

Relegation issues are governed by team resignations, of which the League has only been currently advised of one, but according to the rules the vacancy caused needs to be passed down through to the lowest Division.

In Premier Division Darts, West End LMR B top scored, their 7-1 trouncing of third placed hosts Cosey Club blasting them through the ton points barrier again.

Cosey’s Jules Wilde staved off an embarrassing whitewash, while Pioneers Club A clinched runners-up berth after their 5-3 defeat of visitors Brunel Arms A.

LMR hotshots were Patrick Lynskey and Carl Dennel with respective 14 and 16 darters and Aaron Ayres and Chris Gibson with 18 dart legs concluded with 111 and 123 checkouts.

Robbie Arrowsmith (Vine A) and Tom Kelly (Eight Farmers) fired 15 dart legs, Andy Poynton (Pioneers A) a 16 darter and team mate Pete Boughey 17 and 19 dart legs.

Division One's already crowned champions Horse Shoe coasted to a draw with Broughton Arms.

Poor results by the Imp (3-5 loss at Amalgamated A) and Hop Pole A, who let slip a 3-0 lead in their draw with visitors Nantwich Road A, leaves them level on points, but separated on the matches won parameter, in a three-way battle with Cheshire Cheese, who beat Pioneers Club B 5-3 for runners-up honours.

Last-match opposition for the Imp are champions Shoe while Pole A visit fifth placed Broughton Arms and the Cheese visit lowly Lady A.

Frazer Hill (Pole A) concluded an 18 dart leg with a 154 checkout while Dan Smith (Broughton), Phil Shaw (Lady A), Ernie Harrison (Pioneers B) and Rob Challinor (Nantwich Road A) all bombed 180’s.

Division Two leaders Willaston Club clinched are Champions despite an early setback saw them go 2-0 down to closest challengers Amalgamated B before regaining their composure and win all the remaining games.

Mals B need one point from their last match against Bridge C to be Runners-up.

Bottom placed Captain Webb caught up on fixtures in a disastrous manner by going down 7-1 to Nantwich Road B and Sydney Arms, whitewashes being prevented by Reggie Cooper and Tim Stafford.

Top darts came from Rich Sharp (Amalgamated A) who included a 180 in a 14 darter and Lee Moffatt Willaston) who won in 18 and 19 darts and also fired a 180.

Simon Felton (Nantwich Road B) hit a 120 kill to his 21 dart leg and team mates Dean Webster and Gary Beveridge bombed respective 104 and 105 finishes. Mick Jones (Amals B) and Paul Blythe (Willaston) chucked 180s.

Division Three champions Brunel Arms B, another member of the ton up points club, demoted closest rivals Kings Arms B to third by beating them 5-3, so the Cheshire Cheese draw at Vine B was sufficient to move them up to second on matches won, meaning Kings B need one more point than the Cheese in their last matches to be runners-up.

Neil Ridgeway (White Lion) staved off his teams possible whitewash at Coppenhall Club.

Lyndon Cartwright (Brunel B) won in 16 and 18 darts, teammate John Speed and Dave Morris (Coppenhall Club) fired 17 darters, Tony Taylor (Kings B) and Chris Brown (Sun B) 20 darters and Sean Murfin (Vine B) hit a 171 high score.

Division 4 Darts top trio of Duke of Bridgewater B, Brunel Arms C and Nags Head A all hit big scores against Coach & Horses, Dishers Club A and bottom placed Foresters B, for whom Nigel Peters staved off a whitewash. Duke B need two points from their final match against Nag A to be Champions, with Brunel C needing at least five at Hop Pole B to ensure what is probably Runners-up slot, with Nag A missing out. Ryan Proctor (Duke B) won with a 101 checkout.

Premier Division Dominoes' top two Cosey Club and West End LMR B met, the resultant draw leaving Cosey one point up and with more wins, so the LMR must be rueing letting slip a 4-2 advantage.

Third placed Kings Arms A also had a bad night, losing 6-2 to visitors Eight Farmers to drop three points off the pace.

The top two are hot favourites for the trophy places as third placed Kings A meet closest challengers Brunel Arms C in their last match.

Division One has new leaders in Horse Shoe after their draw with Broughton Arms.

Deposed leaders Nantwich Road A lost 5-3 at third placed Hop Pole A, and are a point adrift but with more match wins.

The Shoe visit bottom placed Imp in their last match, but with three points separating the top five teams, an intense ding dong last match battle is on the cards.

Division Two toppers Woodside won 5-3 at Bridge C to guarantee a top two finish.

Hawk beat Rising Sun A 5-3 but must win their last match at Bridge A to ensure they fill the other trophy slot.

Amalgamated B still retain a slight chance after their 6-2 win ended Willaston Club’s interest.

Division 3 Dominoes is another very tight contest, although pacemakers White Lion are almost sure of a top two finish after a 5-3 win at Coppenhall Club.

Four points behind the Lion are Nags Head B, 6-2 winners at Rising Sun B, who are being pursued by Vine B, beaten 5-3 by Cheshire Cheese and Swan & Chequers and Kings Arms B who hit six apiece at Lady B and Brunel B.

Division Four leaders Dishers Club B beat British Lion 5-3 to ensure a top two finish, and were greatly helped by their A team who beat second placed Brunel Arms C 5-3.

Final matches see Dishers B visiting bottom placed Foresters Arms B, so Brunel C need a miracle to overhaul them, or a 5-3 win at Hop Pole B to ensure the other trophy place, but big wins by any of Coach & Horses, Nags Head A or Dishers Club A must be taken into account.
