DOUG Crosbie from Nantwich was in great form racing his 1600cc Formula Ford at Oulton Park at the weekend.
He was lying fourth in the overall Championship but was starting from pole position after qualifying a considerable half a second faster than the next driver.
A good start saw him keep the lead into the vital first corner but he was being closely followed throughout the race followed by two other drivers who were close rivals in the overall Championship.
Despite the gap between these three drivers always being less than one second and the racing very hard, it was an enjoyable and fair race with Crosbie holding his lead all the way from the start to the chequered flag finish.
After the race Crosbie said the car had performed perfectly in the race conditions and he was able to use his confidence in the car to stay in the lead in this close and competitive class of racing.
