NANTWICH Town took three points from a possible six over Christmas, but missed a golden chance to close the gap on the league leaders.
A late Matthew Kosylo penalty was enough to earn the Dabbers three points on Boxing Day, beating Skelmersdale United 1-0 in front of more than 600 people at the Weaver Stadium.
But with leaders Blyth Spartans also losing on Monday, it was a disappointing defeat for Nantwich at Buxton.
The visitors went down 3-1, with a Myles Wright own goal all they had to show for their efforts as Ashley Burbeary, Joel Bembo-Leta and Warren Burrell netted for the hosts.
It leaves Dabber five points off the top in second, albeit having played a game more than Evo-Stik Northern Premier League leaders Blyth.
