NANTWICH Town brushed aside higher-ranked Bradford Park Avenue in a replay on Tuesday to reach the FA Trophy last 16.

The Dabbers’ reward for a five-goal success is a home date with Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division rivals Stourbridge on Saturday week, February 6.

They took the lead through Matt Bell seven minutes before the break, then doubled it early in the second period through Sam Hall.

Elliott Osborne made it 3-0 on 63 minutes after running onto Darren Thornton’s assist, then converted a penalty with a quarter of an hour left after Liam Shotton was fouled.

Matty Kosylo completed the scoring late on.

And manager Phil Parkinson will hope his side can carry that form into a league encounter with Ilkeston this weekend.

After failing to win any of their past five Premier Division fixtures, Nantwich have dropped out of the play-offs places.

Their latest reverse was at home to in-form leaders Blyth Spartans last Saturday, when Ryan Hutchinson secured a 2-1 win for the visitors to Weaver Stadium with six minutes left.

“We shouldn’t be conceding that sort of goal with the heading ability of Jon Moran, Ben Harrison, Sam Hall and Mat Bailey in our side,” said Parkinson.

“More so against Blyth because I wouldn’t say set pieces are their strength.

“They are a good footballing team, and I think we lost to a team that will go onto win the title.

“There is no embarrassment in that, but it’s disappointing at the same time because we’re proud of our home record.

“We seem to be letting that go at the moment, which is a shame.”

Andy White had opened the scoring for Nantwich on six minutes, scoring his second goal of the season on his 150th appearance for the club.

Nathan Buddle levelled for Spartans midway through the first half.
