NANTWICH heavyweight prospect Nathan Gorman is champing at the bit ahead of his second professional contest.

The 19-year-old former amateur standout opened his paid account with a stunning third round stoppage of Jindrich Velecky in December.

He returns to action against Poland's Jakub Wojcik on Hatton Promotions and Black Country Boxing's 'Undefeated' card at Walsall Town Hall on February 19 and he can't wait to take his account to two wins out of two.

"I'm really excited about getting back in the ring and taking the next step in my professional career", Gorman said.

"I only boxed in December, but I've been counting down the days to my next fight since.

"I don't know much about Wojcik other than he's a southpaw and he's 5ft 11ins from Poland. I've seen a few clips of him and he's quite fast, but speed is all he's got. He knocked his last opponent out but that doesn't mean anything because it's all about levels.

"I don't make predictions, I'm just aiming to get the win. I could say I'm going to knock him out, but it's more a case of it comes. I'm more interested in sharpening skills and putting into practice what Ricky [Hatton] has taught me in the gym."

Like every up-and-coming young boxer, Gorman has dreams of one day getting a world title around his waist.

"However, he knows it's baby steps at this stage and wants to keep sharpening skills.

He said: "British heavyweight scene is buzzing at the minute. You've got Tyson Fury as the world champion, you've got another Fury in Hughie who is heading to the top and then there's Joshua and Haye. You can throw Dave Allen in the mix as well, he's a good kid and he's in the top ten in Britain.

"I think it's going to be two to three years before I make a splash in the division. It's very early days and I don't want to run before I can walk, but I'd love to be in the mix with those guys. I know I'll get there one day."

The February 19 show is headlined by Halesowen puncher Lennox Clarke in an eight round tussle with Harlow's Richard Horton.

Tickets are priced at £30 (general admission) and £60 (VIP Ringside), and can be purchased by calling 0845 111 2900 or directly from any boxer on the bill.
